Since sales cycles are typically long, the means of compensation are: Hourly Rate plus selected Internal Leads (commissions can be used to slightly reduce base rates) - or a payment structure for a lead generation program plus commission. Client plans vary and are constructed based on business needs - either month-to-month long-range plans or project-based.
